When I was a professional rugby player I suffered a serious, potentially career ending injury. With the support of the Rugby Players Association charitable devision, I was able to get a second opinion, a new operation, and get back to playing. The real life benefits that charities can bring to people's lives cannot be underestimated. It is for that reason that collaborating with various charities is a huge part of my artistic life. Here are a small selection of some of the incredible charities that I have been honoured to be asked to provide artwork for, in order to be auctioned off to help their fundraising efforts.
21 November 2017
The Sports Ball charity committee organised an incredible event at London's prestigious Savoy Hotel to raise funds for Make-a-Wish UK. The star studded event raised over £250,000 for the charity that night through ticket sales and a live auction. I was honoured to be asked to attend and do a live painting at the event. The paintings that I did were auctioned off at the end of the night and raised over £5000 for Make-a-Wish UK.
MY NAME I5 DODDIE CHARITY DINNER, BARNARD CASTLE SCHOOL

As a former student of Barnard Castle School is was with special pride that I was asked to create a bespoke piece to be auctioned off to raise money for the My Name I5 Doddie Foundation, the charitable foundation of fellow former Newcastle Falcons player Doddie Weir. Doddie has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease and has selflessly dedicated his time to raising money to help fight the disease. The event was a real success and the painting was auctioned off for £2000.
ROBERT VICKERS TESTIMONIAL DINNER
17 March 2018
Robert (Bobby) Vickers, one of the best men I ever had the privilege to play alongside at Newcastle Falcons celebrated his decade at the club with a well deserved Testimonial Year. One of the events was a dinner that would raise funds for My Name I5 Doddie. I was proud to be asked to attend (alongside a selection of my old teammates) and do a live painting to be auctioned off at the end of the evening.
Following the climate change protests that occurred in early 2019, Ed and Bev were inspired to find a way to raise funds for charities working to fight climate change and conserve wildlife.
They came up with #BuyArtSaveTheWorld which donates 30% of all its profits to environmental and conservation charities.
